Rishon LeZion, Two Shots, Brawl Video and Arrest Request: Court Ordered Release of Two Suspects
Police sought to extend the detention of two suspects following a violent incident during which shots were fired

The Rishon LeZion Magistrate's Court ordered on September 26 the release under restrictive conditions of two suspects arrested following a violent incident during which, according to police, two shots were fired. Judge Dror Klaytman ruled that the investigative material establishes reasonable suspicion and grounds for arrest, but found that a distinction must be made between those involved and the acts attributed to each of them.
The first suspect was charged with offenses of weapon possession, assault, affray, and making threats. The second suspect was charged with offenses of assault, affray, and making threats. Another suspect, whose case was heard separately, was suspected of shooting a firearm.
Police presented a video and requested to continue detention
During the hearing, the police representative requested to extend the detention of the two suspects by 24 hours. According to him, investigators possess a video and additional materials linking them to the violent incident.
The police representative stated that 17 investigative actions had been carried out up to that point, and that about 20 additional actions remained, some of which were susceptible to obstruction. The police requested to carry out the actions while the suspects remained in custody.
In his answers during the hearing, the police representative clarified that at this stage the two suspects cannot be directly linked to the shooting. However, he argued that the materials indicate a violent and planned incident of two against one, using weapons and other objects.
The sequence of events also remained under review. When the police representative was asked whether the shooting preceded the acts attributed to the two, he replied that there are not yet conclusive findings on the matter.
The video and the distinction between the suspects Judge Klaytman noted in his decision that he reviewed the investigative material, including a video documenting the incident. He ruled that the material establishes reasonable suspicion of the commission of the offenses attributed to the suspects, and that grounds for arrest exist based on dangerousness and fear of obstruction of investigative proceedings.
Alongside this, the judge emphasized that the shooting offense is attributed to the other suspect, whose case was discussed earlier, and not to the two suspects before him. He further distinguished between the two themselves: the first is accused of an offense related to a weapon, while the second is not accused of such an offense.
Regarding the second suspect, the judge determined that the investigative material and the video indicate he joined the incident at a late stage relative to the main occurrence.
"The suspects can be released to an alternative to detention, each according to his case," the judge ruled, despite the extension of detention of the other suspect.
One to house arrest, the other released with a prohibition of contact The first suspect was sent to full supervised house arrest until September 28 at 12:00. Until that time, he is prohibited from contacting any of those involved in the incident, and he is required to appear for interrogation or in court as needed. In addition, self-guarantee and guarantors' sureties were set.
The second suspect was released without house arrest, subject to a prohibition of contact with those involved until that same date, a self-guarantee of 2,500 shekels, and an obligation to appear for questioning or hearing upon request.
The first suspect was represented by Adv. Bar Aslan, and the second suspect was represented by Adv. Omer Adiri
